Another Round of Clearing Operations in Caloocan City
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has made another round of clearing operations in Caloocan City.
Two barangay halls near Caloocan City hall were dismantled and demolished during the said operations made clearing operations conducted by the agency and the local government of Caloocan City.
MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia, and Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan led the demolition of illegally-built structures encroaching the sidewalks in the city as part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive in clearing all road networks from obstruction.
Lim praised the performance of all local chief executives in Metro Manila in overseeing clearing operations in their areas of jurisdiction.
"I’m confident that we will meet the 60-day deadline of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to reclaim public roads in the metropolis," said Lim. "I assure you that we will deliver along with the local government units in Metro Manila. There's no reason that we wouldn't be able to meet the DILG's ultimatum since it's non-extendable."
For his part, Garcia reiterated that MMDA needs the full cooperation of the local government as well as the barangay officials in order to maintain and sustain the cleared roads.
