Automotive, Mobility Leaders Join Hands with ECCP for Safer Roads

Road safety issues and stronger implementation of safety solutions were highlighted at the Safer Mobility and Logistics Conference and Exhibition held last September 24 and 25 at The Tent, Solaire Manila, Pasay City.

Organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), the event included panel discussions featuring road and logistics safety stakeholders and innovators who are actively promoting engagement and collaboration between the public and private sectors. Non-government organizations joined the conversation on implementing the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) Roadmap and other logistics safety action plan.

According to the World Health Organization's 2018 Status Report on Road Safety, 35 Filipinos die every day while over 348 are seriously injured due to traffic-related incidents.

"One major cause of death in the Philippines are road accidents, they just rarely make the headlines. We want to bring humanity back to motorists and pedestrians because they are more than just statistics. The more frequent road accidents happen, the more we should collectively do something about it," said Allan Santos, Marketing Manager of Bridgestone Philippines on continuing their road safety campaign through supporting ECCP's initiatives on safer mobility and logistics.

The event also witnessed the launch of the Enrique Razon Logistics Institute and Shell BiyaHero, as well as the signing of partnership agreements with organizations committed to road safety.

"Creating a safety culture is something that is vital to all that we do, especially with mobility and logistics. We at the ECCP aim to promote a stronger implementation of safety solutions. We also hope to increase private sector engagement and public-private collaboration in implementing the GRSP Road Safety Roadmap and other logistics safety action plans for the safety and security of all Filipinos," said ECCP President Nabil Francis.

The event hosted an exhibit that featured a curated display of cutting-edge vehicles from Nissan, Honda, Maxus and technologies and innovations from Aguila Autoglass, American Technologies, Inc., Coca-cola Beverages Philippines Inc., Croxtec, EVAP, and Transnational Uyeno Safety Academy.

"The presentations and dialogues we heard from key government representatives, the academe and the private sector featured the challenges and best practices in promoting safer mobility in the Philippines, as well as current trends and developments in ridesharing and logistics,” shared ECCP Executive Director Florian Gottein.

The ECCP's Safer Mobility and Logistics Conference and Exhibition is co-presented by Bridgestone in collaboration with Platinum Sponsor Pilipinas Shell, Venue Partner Solaire, Silver Sponsors Angkas, Geiser Maclang, INAEC Aviation Corporation, Republic Cement Services, Inc., and Quisumbing Torres, Event Supporters Robert Bosch, Inc.
