How many cars are currently housed in Bentley’s new Heritage Garage?
According to Bentley, 22 cars from its Heritage Collection can be seen in the new Heritage Garage. In the future, what cars will be held in the Heritage Garage?
Per Bentley, the Heritage Garage will hold Crewe-built models next year after the company segregated its 42-car collection across three different areas in its headquarters.Dubbed the Heritage Garage, the new building is being utilized to hold 22 cars from Bentley’s 42-car Heritage Collection, which is made up of 34 road-legal vehicles and eight race cars.
“Having now rebuilt the Collection to fully chart our history, we have an ongoing commitment to add to it with each significant new model we launch. For example, the Collection now includes the 2019 Bentayga Hybrid, which was both the first-ever plug-in hybrid Bentley and an important step in our ‘Beyond100’ strategy towards electrification. As we continue to evolve, we want our guests and colleagues from all areas of the company to be able to share the rich history of Bentley Motors. The Heritage Garage brings that history to vivid life, and means we can actively reference our past while setting the course for our future,” said Bentley Heritage Collection Head Mike Sayer.
The Heritage Garage is located within Bentley’s original brick-built factory in Crewe. Those visiting the British luxury carmaker’s factory will now be able to view an unbroken chain of Bentley production models, all kept in perfect working order and road-legal condition.
Furthermore, the Heritage Garage is also being used as an event space for external presentations and internal briefings, surrounded by the beautiful line-up of vintage Bentley models.
Next year, Bentley plans to split the 42-car collection across three different areas. Significant Cricklewood models (built from 1919-1931) and Derby-era Bentley models (manufactured from 1931 to 1939) will live in a soon-to-be-redeveloped display area in the “CW1 House,” while the Heritage Garage will house Crewe-built models. Meanwhile, the eight motorsport automobiles in the Heritage Collection (including Speed 8s from Le Mans, Ice Speed Record, Pikes Peak cars, and GT3 racers) will form a separate display.
As the company continues its "Beyond100" journey of transformation, the Heritage Collection plays an important role by providing a clear picture of where the Bentley of today comes from.
