BMW debuts 4 ‘X models’ at Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance

Four BMW X models — namely the X5, X6, X5 M Competition, and the X6 M Competition — recently made their debut at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance event.

Here, the mid-size luxury sport utility vehicles showcased their extensively upgraded design and technology at the Golf Club of Amelia Island.

The latest BMW X5 and X6 now wear a new pair of headlamps, sport the latest version of the BMW iDrive with its Curved Display, and new engines with 48-volt (V) mild-hybrid technology.

Meanwhile, the performance-oriented BMW X5 Competition and the X6 M Competition get a redesigned exterior and, for the first time, a shared front-end design. They also get state-of-the-art technology in the form of the BMW Curved Display, including the iDrive system with M-specific screen content.

As for the powerplants of the BMW X5 Competition and X6 M Competition, their extensively-modified V8 engines now also work with the brand’s 48V mild hybrid system, which pushes their maximum power output to 625 horsepower.

All four models also benefit from a significantly-expanded portfolio of systems for automated driving and parking. For instance, the vehicles can now be parked and complete maneuvers using an Apple iPhone.

The BMW 3.0 CSL racing coupé and its homologated version — known as the Batmobile — also graced the event in Florida. Similarly, the BMW Z3 and Z4 also made their presence felt in the affair.
