MANILA: The Land Transportation Office has temporarily suspended the driver’s license of the motorist behind the accident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Sunday.

  • As stated in the show cause order (SCO), the agency slapped a 90-day suspension on the driver of the Black Ford Everest on or before the scheduled hearing for the incident set on May 8.

    The order noted that based on a report, the incident left two dead and several individuals injured after the aforementioned vehicle crashed into the west departure curbside area at around 8 a.m. last Sunday.

    Further, the respondent is also being ordered to submit a comment or explanation why he should not be charged with Reckless Driving that could lead to possible revocation of his driver's license.

    The Department of Transportation, together with the Manila International Airport Authority and law enforcement agencies, is currently conducting a full and impartial investigation — including the review of all closed-circuit television footage and subjecting the driver to a drug test.

    For his part, New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC) President Ramon Ang said he will personally shoulder the medical expenses of the four individuals who were injured and provide financial assistance to the families of the two who died in the incident.

    “This is a very tragic incident. Our priority now is to make sure the victims and their families receive the support and care they need,” he said.
