Caltex, marketed by Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), has announced its latest initiative aimed to inspire and boost the creativity of musicians and fans while reminding people that their dreams are unstoppable.

  • In a statement, CPI said that the #Caltexunstoppablestar TikTok rap challenge — which will run on TikTok until March 31, 2022 — “celebrates the joy of driving and the freedom of journeys." 

    The company said that the challenge features a unique 60-second rap song co-written and co-produced for Caltex by SonaOne and performed by artists across three countries: Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia. The rap is divided into four 15-second clips, each increasing in speed and difficulty.

    Tiktok users can use the AR filters in the app as they rap along and create their own video to express “how they cannot be stopped from enjoying their journey.

    Those who would like to join must create their own challenge video while rapping along to Caltex unstoppable song by following the instructions below:

    1. Follow Caltex on Tiktok @Caltexph and search for the hashtag “#Caltexunstoppablestar”
    2. Click “Join this hashtag” and create your own version of Caltex and Matthaios’ rap song.
    3. Use the Caltex official filter on the video and use the official hashtag #Caltexunstoppablestar on the video caption.
    4. Share it to friends on Tiktok and other social media platforms using the hashtag #Caltexunstoppablestar.
    5. Keep the post public until the end of the promotion.

    CPI said that 10 winners will be chosen via raffle draws on March 8 and April 6. Prizes for grabs are Caltex Starcash (worth P5,000 and P10,000), bottles of Techron Concentrate plus and a ninth-generation Apple Ipad.

    Participants can send in as many entries as they want for more chances of winning.

    “With #Caltexunstoppablestar TikTok rap challenge, our customers and casual users will have a little fun with us via our TikTok challenge, whether listening in their car, on a journey, or from the comfort of their homes. They will be reminded they can keep going, as fuel stops become one less thing holding them back,” CPI Country Chairman Billy Liu was quoted as saying.

    The rap challenge was made in partnership with Def Jam Southeast Asia and Universal Music Group for Brands.

    “Hip-hop is highly influential across the region,” Universal Music Group Southeast Asia Chief Executive Officer Calvin Wong said. “With some of Southeast Asia’s biggest rappers including Malaysia’s Joe Flizzow, Thailand’s Daboyway and Philippines’ Matthaios performing on the track, we’re excited to see how fans and users take the song to the next level through this partnership.”
