Car Awards Group Begins 2017 CAGI Test Fest

The Car Awards Group Inc. (CAGI) has recently started the arduous task of grading the vehicles for this year’s Car of the Year-Philippines (COTY-P) and Truck of the Year-Philippines (TOTY-P) with the commencement of the 2017 CAGI Test Fest.

In partnership with CARMUDI PHILIPPINES and KPMG RG. Manabat & Co., CAGI started the tests last Saturday, September 23, at host venue Ayala Land's Arca South in Taguig City.

Some 10 cars from various car brands were lined-up and tested during the first day of testing, with each vehicle undergoing qualitative and technical testing. A total of 40 vehicles are expected to join this year's event.

CAGI President Ronald delos Reyes said that the rating of the vehicles given by motoring journalists are designed to provide much-needed information to the public who are the buyers of the said products.

Delos Reyes said that the next round CAGI Test Fest will be made on September 30 and October 28. The testing dates for the Motorcycle of the Year-Philippines will be held on October 7, 14, and 21.

According to delos Reyes, majority of the vehicles that joined the test fest are from the crossover market. "We are seeing that a good number from the crossover market joined. We are expecting this since the Filipino car buying market are now into buying vehicles that are just right in terms of size, but are built for Philippine roads," he told CARMUDI.
