Chery, Foton, Geely join CAMPI

Aside from Hyundai, two more local distributors have joined the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI).

The organization formally welcomed Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) and United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI) during the press conference for the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

As of July 2022, Geely — being marketed by SGAP — ranks as the number 8 best-selling automotive marque locally after selling 5,360 units in the full seven months of the year. The aforementioned volume allowed the company to hold 2.8-percent share of the Philippine vehicle market.

According to SGAP General Manager for Sales and Marketing Froilan Dytiangquin, Geely Philippines’ membership at the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID) remains at status quo.

To note, Hyundai (now under Hyundai Motor Philippines left) AVID after the brand was led by a new team.

Meanwhile, UAAGI brought to the powerhouse organization its two brands, Foton and Chery. Chery Auto Philippines is currently offering customers its five-vehicle Tiggo roster while Foton Motor Philippines Inc. retails a wide array of trucks, buses and passenger vehicles.

The inclusion of the aforementioned firms brings the total number of brands in the biennial motor show to 13.

For the whole four-day event (dubbed as “Mobility + Humanity: Innovating for the Common Good”) that is scheduled September 15-18, Foton will deploy three modernized jeepneys to ferry PIMS visitors for free between two pickup points: the World Trade Center and SMX Convention Center.
