Hyundai presents initial offerings under new distributorship

Hyundai, now under a different distributorship in the Philippines, has formally presented its initial lineup in the country in its bid to revitalize the brand's presence locally.

  • Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) — led by company president Lee Dong Wook — presented the four models that are already available in its showrooms: the all-new models Creta, Staria, Tucson and the revamped Santa Fe.

    The all-new Hyundai Creta (which is 4,315 millimeters [mm> long, 1,790mm wide and 1,630mm tall with a 2,610mm wheelbase and 200mm ground clearance) is a B-segment sport utility vehicle that will be going against the likes of the Toyota Raize, Kia Stonic, Volkswagen T-Cross, among others.

    The comebacking nameplate — which first landed in the country in 2017 — is powered by a 1.5-liter Smartstream engine that has peak churn of 113 horsepower (hp) and 144Nm of torque. The model is paired with either an improved continuous variable transmission (IVT) or six-speed manual slushbox.

    Hyundai Creta

    For its exterior, the all-new Hyundai Creta boasts sharp lines complemented by athletic-looking bumpers and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the vehicle provides rear seats that can split 60:40, which guarantees a very versatile cargo space.

    Offered in Creamy White Pearl, Magnetic Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Pearl, Dragon Red Pearl (with options for a black roof) the vehicle is being offered in three variants: GLS IVT (top-of-the-line), GL IVT (midgrade) and the GL MT.

    Hyundai Staria

    Meanwhile, the all-new Hyundai Staria is styled with a very futuristic concept as well as its with a low beltline and taller stance. The five-door minivan offering is equipped with a common-rail direct inject (CRDi) diesel engine that can deliver up to 175hp and 430Nm of pulling power matched to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

    It comes in three-(cargo), seven- (premium), and 11-seater (commuter) forms with four variations to choose from (Premium, GLS+, Commuter and Cargo).

    Hyundai Tucson

    Further, the all-new Hyundai Tucson wears the “Sensuous Sportiness” design aesthetic as exuded in its parametric jewel design for the front grille design and unique character lines at the side.

    The vehicle comes with a 2.0-liter CRDi power mill mated to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox.

    Retailed in GLS+ and GLS options, customers of the all-new Hyundai Tucson can choose among the following body colors: White Cream, Shimmering Silver, Crimson Red, Deep Sea, Amazon Gray, Phantom Black.

    Hyundai Santa Fe

    Lastly, the spruced-up Hyundai Santa Fe sports a very premium design cues from its wide grille and front bumper, as well as its chrome door handles and rear spoiler.

    The all-new Santa Fe is fitted with a 2.2-liter Smartstream CRDi engine paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

    Relatedly, HMPH also bared plans of growing its dealer network from the current 38 to 45 by 2023.
