In celebration of Corvette’s racing dominance on the race track, Chevrolet unveils the 2022 Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. The unveiling of the limited-edition Stingray was held at Belle Isle Park Raceway last June 9.
Only 1,000 of these distinctively styled Corvettes will be produced in left-hand drive markets Chevy says.
The limited-edition supercars were made to resemble the number three and number four Corvette C8.R race cars which dominated last year’s IMSA’s sports car championship series and gave the GM-owned brand the Manufacturers, Drivers, and Team titles.
“Racing has been part of the Corvette’s DNA from nearly the beginning,” said General Motors Sports Car Program Manager Laura Klauser.
“Both the Corvette Stingray and C8.R have seen tremendous success capitalizing on the benefits of a mid-engine platform – and we’re just getting started,” added Klauser.
According to Chevrolet, each car will don Corvette Racing-themed graphics packages.
The Accelerate Yellow number three editions feature gray graphics while the Hypersonic Gray number four editions feature yellow accents.
Other exterior features include a Carbon Flash high-wing spoiler, yellow brake calipers, Black Trident wheels with the “Jake” logo on the center caps and black lug nuts, Carbon Flash exterior mirrors, black side rockers, and splash guards.
The special edition Corvette features a Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray cabin that gives both the exterior and interior a cohesive yellow and gray racing theme. In addition, the supercars feature a C8.R Special Edition numbered plaque, yellow seat belts, and GT2 seats with Competition Sport seats as an optional upgrade.
A custom-fitted indoor car cover rendered to the appearance of the eight-gen number three and number four Corvette Stingrays is included in each car.
Based on the 3LT trim with Z51 Performance Package ($78,940), the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package adds US$6,595 more to the sticker price which puts the limited-edition Corvettes at around US$85,535.
