Ducati Ends the Decade with Record Breaking Sales

Ducati Motor Holding finished 2019 on a high note, selling a total of 53,183 bikes worldwide. This is a step up over the previous year’s 53,004 bike sale. A big percentage of the overall sale came from Panigale, Ducati’s family of sport motorcycles and the world’s best selling superbike for two years in a row. The Panigale sold a total of 8,304 units.

“2019 was a tough but also rewarding year. We’re working to make Ducati the world’s most desirable motorcycle brand,” shares Claudio Domenicali, Ducati Motor Holding’s Chief Executive Officer. “And the results we’re achieving, the development of the range and the market response all confirm we’re on the right track. On today’s global market, one in every four superbikes is now a Panigale. The technical content we’ve transferred from the R version and our extensive racing experience to the V4 2020 range ensure this bike remains the category benchmark. What’s more, order books for the new Streetfighter V4 are bulging – more than 1,700 are already on order – and deliveries will begin in March 2020.” The Ducati Panigale is a family of sportbikes manufactured by the Italian company since 2011. There are currently six models available in the Panigale line, the all new Panigale V2, all new Panigale V4, all new Panigale V4 S, Panigale V4 R, 25° ANNIVERSARIO 916, and the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition.

Other top performers from Ducati include the two newcomers: the Hypermotard 950, which sold a total of 4,472 units worldwide, and the Diavel 1260, which sold 3,129 units. “We’re satisfied with the results achieved in 2019,” added Francesco Milicia, Global Sales VP. “Over the last twelve months a major network development plan has been implemented, with 54 new dealerships in 20 countries. This expansion plan will continue this year in order to further improve the world-wide network coverage and offer our fans a growing premium experience.”

The sales figures Ducati has received in 2019 have reinforced their position at the premium end of the motorcycle market. The brand’s top market is their birthplace, Italy. Out of the 53,183 bikes, 9,474 were sold in Italy. Ducati also performed particularly well in Brazil, Spain, France, and China.
