Ferrari Monza SP1 Wins Gold at iF Design Awards 2019

Ferrari's limited-edition special-series car, the Monza SP1, bagged the highly-coveted Gold Award at the iF Design Awards 2019 event held last March 15, Friday, in Munich, Germany.

As Ferrari's first roll-out in a new segment called 'Icona,' the Monza SP1 (along with the SP2) draws much of its inspiration from the classic Ferraris of the 1950s while also showcasing the most advanced sports car features available today.

The single-seater SP1 reinterprets the famous 1950s barchetta-look, which made jurors gush at its 'classic perfection that also hints at the future.' Identified by its unique asymmetric layout and monolithic bodywork profile, the SPI offers the best weight-to-power ratio of any barchetta, courtesy of its uncompromising aerodynamics, extensive use of carbon fiber, and of course, its 6.5-liter F140 GA V12 engine that dishes out 800 hp, 719 Nm, and the ability to dash from 0-100 kph in 2.9 seconds.

Aside from the Monza SP1, Ferrari also won for the Ferrari Portofino, the 488 Pista and the one-off SP38.

"These awards are further recognition of the continuous research carried out by the Ferrari Styling Centre to create increasingly innovative design solutions across Ferrari’s production, in a perfect symbiosis between aesthetics and technology," Ferrari's press release said about the multiple wins.
