Foton rolls out EV buses in New Zealand

Foton electric city buses have now been deployed in Auckland, New Zealand. The Foton buses, officially launched on April 13, ply bus routes in Auckland’s suburbs of Papakura and Otahuhu from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day.

In terms of range, the Foton electric buses can cover around 400 kilometers on a single charge.

Foton’s NZ-spec electric buses measure around 12 meters in length with a lower floor access and a competitive passenger capacity. They have also been built with the size of the local residents in the said region in mind, so, the doors of the bus can open wider for easier boarding and disembarking.

The Foton electric buses in New Zealand are also particularly friendly for the young and the elderly, providing more spacious room for passengers.

Foton is also working with Sinolink NZ Ltd., allowing the automotive brand to build an after-sales team in Auckland and ensure that the people servicing the electric buses are properly trained and are well equipped for the task at hand. The team has already held online and offline training sessions for driving and maintenance of the vehicle.

Having been recognized a supplier of electric city buses in New Zealand, Foton is committed to helping the country upgrade its public transport network.

These electrified passenger buses follow the EU Whole Vehicle Type-Approval System (WVTA) as well as New Zealand’s RUB (vehicle quality standard for use in urban bus contracts).
