MANILA: GAC Motor Philippines has updated the Aion V by outfitting it with the new Aion Electric Platform (AEP) 3.0.
According to the local subsidiary of the Chinese automaker, the platform has been built exclusively for electric vehicle (EV) use and was designed and engineered to allow optimal efficiency, safety, and performance.

“As the Philippines accelerates toward an electrified future, today’s car buyers are no longer satisfied with simply going electric. They are now looking for vehicles that deliver real-world practicality, proven safety, long-range capability, and everyday convenience,” GAC Motor Philippines wrote in a press release.
“GAC Philippines is at the forefront of this shift, setting a new benchmark in electric mobility with its proprietary AEP 3.0 platform, now underpinning the GAC Aion V. As more Filipinos explore Battery electric vehicles or BEVs, this latest innovation marks a clear transition where electric driving evolves from an alternative into a superior everyday choice,” the company added.
The GAC AEP 3.0 allows the GAC Aion V to offer improved performance and safety, done through the introduction of measurable engineering advantages that directly benefit drivers.
Powering the vehicle is a high-efficiency electric drive system that can achieve over 90 percent energy conversion efficiency, resulting in increased battery charging and driving range.

As such, the GAC Aion V becomes more stable, responsive, and exciting to drive; balancing both power and control to uplift the daily commute.
Safety, too, is enhanced thanks to better structural integrity. The electric car’s battery is integrated into the actual platform underpinning the vehicle, improving overall body rigidity by up to 15 to 20 percent.
This results not only in better handling, but also increased passenger protection in the event of a collision.
Additionally, the AEP 3.0 platform is built with an intelligent energy management system that can improve efficiency by around 10 to 15 percent compared to non-dedicated EV platforms.
The Guangzhou-headquartered manufacturer did not come up with the improvements overnight. In fact it draws from two decades long of experience co-engineering alongside some of the largest Japanese companies — like Toyota and Honda.
Per GAC Motor Philippines, the AEP 3.0 platform, “is now so advanced that it reciprocally empowers global heritage brands, establishing it as the trusted choice of the world's elite manufacturers.”
With the AEP 3.0 platform, and the suite of features already offered by the GAC Aion V, the model stands out as a practical and future-ready electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) designed for Filipino households.
Offering a range that is ideal not only for daily commutes, but also for spontaneous weekend adventures (600 kilometers [km> on a single charge), the electric automobile allows drivers to complete several days of city driving or long-distance trips with fewer charging stops.
This means that the GAC Aion V is able to cover routes such as Manila to Ilocos or Manila to Bicol with proper planning, significantly reducing range anxiety.
When the time comes to juice up the SUV, owners can replenish the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes, which can restore more than 300 km of driving range in a short stop.
Ultimately, efficiency translates into savings — especially with today’s erratic fuel prices. Compared to traditional fuel-powered vehicles, the GAC Aion V can reduce energy costs by up to 50 to 70 percent per km. Likewise, maintenance expenses can be lower by around 30 to 50 percent due to fewer moving parts.
The GAC Aion V with the new AEP 3.0 platform offers both comfort and safety to would-be owners.
First, its cabin boasts amenities like a large 14.6-inch infotainment display, intuitive voice controls, and wireless charging capability.
Additionally, the cabin can transform into a fully flat resting space with a one-touch reclining function, as well as a built-in refrigerator in the center console that enhances convenience, especially in long drives or heavy traffic conditions.

The SUV’s structure uses 1,500 Megapascal ultra-high-strength hot-formed submarine-grade steel — up to three times stronger than conventional automotive materials. As such, it creates a reinforced safety cell designed to better absorb and distribute impact forces during collisions.
Protecting occupants is a comprehensive seven-airbag system, which includes extended side curtain airbags measuring 2.3 meters in length, designed to cover both front and rear passengers.
These airbags — GAC Motor Philippines pointed out — can maintain pressure for up to six seconds, offering sustained protection during multi-impact scenarios.
GAC Motor Philippines rolled out a limited-time offer for the Aion V, to make EV ownership more accessible.
Until May 31, 2026, the GAC Aion V is available with the below prices:

“What makes the Aion V particularly compelling is how the AEP 3.0 platform enhances everyday usability. Drivers benefit from improved efficiency, smoother handling, and a quieter ride, while families gain peace of mind from advanced safety engineering,” GAC Motor Philippines said in a press release.
“The platform’s design ensures that the vehicle is not only environmentally responsible but also practical for real-world conditions in the Philippines. From daily commutes to weekend road trips, it delivers a balanced combination of performance, safety, and cost efficiency,” it concluded.
