Geely Okavango now considered as hybrid in PH

MANILA: The updated version of the Geely Okavango in the Philippines has been revealed in the country and is now registered as a hybrid electric vehicle.

Now offered in a sole option (called Elite), the aforementioned model’s latest iteration has widened the brand’s new energy vehicle roster two following the launch of the EX5 electrified crossover last February.

Vehicle specifications

The refreshed Geely Okavango Elite has the following measurements:

Exterior

The latest seven-seater sport utility vehicle has a gross weight of 2,295 kilograms and sits on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/55 tires.

Since it could be considered as a mid-cycle update, the Geely Okavango Elite basically retained the look of the vehicle except for the new grille design, which now comes with a one-piece frame (instead of the three-piece in the previous iteration).

Other exterior amenities include:

• 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/55 tires
• Shark fin antenna

• Dermatoglyph spoiler
• LED illumination (head-, tail-, fog-, and daytime running lamps)
• Power side mirrors 

Interior

Inside the new Geely Okavango Elite is a familiar cabin made up of:

• Two 12.3-inch digital displays (digital cluster and infotainment system that has yet to have Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity options)
• Multi-function steering wheel
• Leather seats (electronically-adjustable for front occupants, manually-adjustable for second and third rows)
• Piano-black electronic gear shifter
• Rotary drive mode selector
• Panoramic sunroof
• Three-zone automatic air conditioning system

All the chairs are covered with PVC leather with diamond pattern stitching for an elegant touch.

Powertrain

Under the new Geely Okavango Elite’s hood is the same 1.5-liter turbocharged direct- inject gasoline-fed engine mated to a 48-volt electric motor that provides a churn of:

This lets the vehicle go up to 190 kilometers per hour.

As mentioned above, what’s only new with the latest offering is that it has been recognized as a hybrid model based on the Land Transportation Memorandum Circular VDM-2025- 4333 dated last April.

The new Geely Okavango maintained the three drive modes (Normal, Eco, and Sport) that it offered to customers previously.

Its stops and deceleration are guaranteed by front and rear disc brakes while its suspension is made up of MacPhersons at the fore and a composite multi-link rigid axle arrangement at the back.
