Grab Drivers Lament Suspension of PHP2 Per Minute Charge

Grab

Drivers of transport network company (TNC) Grab Philippines are lamenting the suspension of the PHP2 per minute travel charge by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), saying that it has adversely affect their livelihood as the total amount of the fee collected by the driver at the end of a trip gives them a sustainable income despite the increasing oil prices.

"Nakikiusap po kami sa LTFRB na sumusunod naman po kami sa inyo, sana ay pakinggan ninyo rin po kami. (We are asking LTFRB that since we listen to you, we hope you'd listen to us as well)," said transport network vehicle services (TNVS) driver Earl Licera in a press conference.

Grab recently filed its motion for reconsideration before the LTFRB asking that it lift its suspension on the travel duration rate.

The company has maintained that the travel duration rate is legal and in accordance with a 2015 order of the Department of Transportation that allows TNCs to set their own fare rates.
