MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) has previewed the all-new Prelude at the recently held Honda Fest 2025, soon after it made its global debut at this year’s Japan Mobility Show

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the all-new Honda Prelude?

It uses a 2.0-liter e:HEV engine mated to an eCVT.
  • How much power does it make?

The all-new Honda Prelude puts out some 181 hp and 315 Nm.
  • Already confirmed for local sale, many fans are excited to find out what’s underneath the metal; and since the all-new Honda Prelude is pegged as an enthusiast’s sports car, a lot are looking forward to finding out how much excitement it can provide those sitting behind the wheel.

On that note, here are the initial specifications of the all-new Honda Prelude for the Philippine market.

    Dimensions

The all-new Honda Prelude is close (a bit smaller) to the size of its cousin, the Civic

It has an overall length of 4,522 millimeters (mm), an overall width of 1,880 mm, and an overall height of 1,355 mm. A good distance between the wheels (at 2,605 mm) means that it offers a good balance between agility and a pliant ride quality, while a low ground clearance of 115 mm allows it to remain planted to the ground even in high-speed driving situations, as well as when attacking and exiting corners.

Per the company’s literature, the all-new Honda Prelude has a front and rear tread of 1,627 and 1,615, respectively, with a turning radius of six meters and a curb weight of 1,466 kilograms.

For comparison’s sake, here’s how it stacks up against the Honda Civic:

    Exterior

As for its exterior appointments, the all-new Honda Prelude, the two-door coupe, looks the part. Modern in every angle, its fore is fitted with a sleek garnish that connects its two LED headlamps that are topped with LED daytime running lights.

The two-part meshwork is comprised of a black chrome louver at the upper portion, while the lower grillework has a high gloss black honeycomb pattern with blue accents.

Onto its sides are flush door handles, high gloss black side sill garnishes, body-colored side mirrors with power-folding and power-adjust functions, as well as a set of Berlina Black Aluminum 19-inch wheels with Brembo and Prelude branding — which hide some good-looking blue brake calipers — and 235/40 radial tires.

At the back, the all-new Honda Prelude packs an LED rear light strip, an LED high-mount stop lamp, a glass-type antenna, a bumper in high gloss black with blue accents, and tailpipe finishers.

    Other stories:

    Interior

Stepping inside the cabin, would-be owners will be treated to bucket-type front seats upholstered in blue and white perforated smooth leather with a Houndstooth pattern. As for the rear seats, it is finished in black fabric.

The aforementioned black-and-blue motif of the front seats — and also of the front and rear bumper, as well as the brake calipers — can also be seen on some of the interior trim with white leather with two-tone (blue and white) stitching and “Prelude” embroidered logo.

Other notable accents include platinum chrome inner door handles, a center console box with armrest, an electronic gear selector, sport floormats, and sports pedals.

Tech-wise, it is endowed with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster that displays the below information:

    • Speed and time
    • Navigation

    • Battery level

It is complemented by a nine-inch touchscreen display infotainment system with Google Automotive Services built in. Device connectivity is possible via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with audio sent to an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system.

Creature comfort is maintained thanks to a dual-zone automatic air conditioner, a wireless charger, and ambient lighting.

    Powertrain

Propulsion comes from a hybrid powertrain system, which not only helps make HCPI strides in its sustainability goals, but also gives buyers access to the benefits of the Vehicle Industry Development Act, such as exemption from the metro’s coding scheme.

Under the hood is Honda’s 2.0-liter e:HEV engine mated to an electronic continuously variable transmission.

The setup produces the following figures:

Maximum engine power (in horsepower [hp>)

    139

Maximum engine torque (in Newton-meters [Nm>)

    182

Maximum electric motor power (in hp)
