  • What is the price range of the Toyota Yaris Cross?

  • On that note, many Filipino car buyers are itching to know bits of information about the forthcoming arrival of Toyota’s latest entry to the county’s tightly-contested crossover category. That said, we’re here to give you some details you might want to know about the Toyota Yaris Cross.

All three are fitted with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, 16-valve, Dual VVT-i engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

There, the crossover was shown to have a maximum speed of 170 kilometers per hour.

Going back to TMP’s website, one can see that its maximum power output is 104 horsepower with a maximum torque of 138 Newton-meters (Nm).

    Hybrid variant to become available

TMP is taking no breaks when it comes to pushing for a greener and cleaner means of mobility here in the country. With that, it continues its strides to make Philippine transportation more environmentally friendly by offering the Toyota Yaris Cross with a hybrid powertrain setup.

The aforementioned Toyota Yaris Cross S HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) grade is powered by the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine and CVT but also boasts the Japanese carmaker’s hybrid technology.

Performance figures reveal that the hybrid Toyota Yaris Cross makes 89 horses with 121Nm of torque.

Upon launch, the Toyota Yaris Cross will sit alongside other hybrid versions of Toyota’s nameplates such as the Camry, Corolla Altis, Corolla Cross, Rav4, and the recently-launched Zenix.

Slightly smaller than the Toyota Rush

Nicknamed the “Baby Fortuner” the Toyota Rush measures 4,466 millimeters (mm) long, 1,687mm wide, and 1,705mm tall.

With that in mind, one can picture the Toyota Yaris Cross to be slightly smaller as it has an overall length of 4,310mm, an overall width of 1,770mm, and an overall height of 1,615mm.

It might look like a modern Toyota

Although we’re yet to see the Philippine-market Toyota Yaris Cross in the metal, a peek at its Indonesian-spec model reveals that it looks pretty much like all modern Toyotas.

Plenty are its aggressive angles and there is an abundance of straight lines found all over its exterior. The design cues also resemble that of the Toyota Veloz, Corolla Cross, and even the Rav4.

And while only three variants have been confirmed for the Philippines, we at Carmudi are hoping that Toyota will give us a Gazoofied version soon.

In Indonesia, the Toyota Yaris Cross is offered in a Gazoo Racing (GR) grade that comes with all the bells and whistles including GR badges outside and inside the crossover.

There, the Toyota Yaris Cross GR HEV also comes with aerodynamic kits, a power tailgate with kick sensor, fancy panoramic glass roof with power sunshade, a seven-inch instrument cluster, and a 10.1-inch infotainment display.

    Final thoughts

The Toyota Yaris Cross will definitely expand the brand’s hybrid offerings in the country and provide Filipinos with yet another beautiful and reliable option when choosing an eco-friendly ride.

TMP will unveil the Toyota Yaris Cross on August 4 at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater in Taguig.

It will be priced from P1.199 million to P1.598 million.
