Upcoming sedan trim to expand brand's local NEV roster
Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) previewed the upcoming addition to the Civic’s lineup, the RS e:HEV.
The initial reveal for the iconic sedan’s upcoming variant locally was spearheaded by Honda Motor Company Vice President and Head of Regional Operations for Asia and Oceania as well as Asian Honda Motor Company President and Chief Executive Officer Toshio Kuwahara.
Per Kuwahara, who was former HCPI president, said that the upcoming new energy vehicle is part of Honda’s push towards a sustainable future.
“Driven by a clear vision, we seek to achieve carbon neutrality across our entire product lineup and corporate activities by 2050. We are also striving for zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles globally by 2050,” he noted.
For her part, current HCPI President Rie Miyake announced that the new Honda Civic RS e:HEV will have its formal reveal at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show set on October 24-27 at the World Trade Center in Pasay.

The new Honda Civic RS e:HEV — which is still part of the 11th-generation family — sports an updated exterior design and is packed with modern-day technologies.
Overseas, the car is propelled by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 16-valve, double overhead cam engine with two electric motors, an electrical continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) and a high-efficiency lithium-ion battery.
In Thailand, the new Honda Civic RS e:HEV offers four drive modes: Sport, Individual, Normal, and Eco.
Further, it is packed with the latest generation of Honda CONNECT (which includes the Google Automotive Services, allowing owners to add more applications),and an updated Honda SENSING suite of technologies.
“The new Honda Civic RS e:HEV truly blends performance and efficiency with features that reinforce Honda in the field of leading-edge technologies in connectivity and safety. It has the power to give its driver confidence in every journey with less environmental impact,” Miyake said.
“We are excited to introduce this new model, one that Drives like a Dream and gives Filipino customers greater options in choosing an electrified vehicle in the Philippines. This, along with several more upcoming models, is set to further strengthen Honda’s x:EV portfolio in the country,” she noted.
