In a statement, Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) said that the programs that made HFI a worthy recipient of the accolade are the following:
- HFI’s donation of motorcycles to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in 2020 to help in the quick delivery of humanitarian and life-saving services to communities during crises
- HFI’s efforts to help rebuild homes in typhoon-hit Catanduanes last year
“Honda Foundation, Inc. and the entire Honda Group of Companies in the Philippines are beyond grateful for this heart-warming recognition by the SPMJ,” HPI President Susumu Mitsuishi was quoted as saying.
“Supporting the community is the cornerstone of our business as we believe in creating value for the society. This award will only keep us even more inspired to improve the lives of Filipino people in need and bring joy to people’s lives,” he added.
The motorcycle donation to PRC was made in line with Honda's “One Dream” campaign. A total of 104 motorcycle units produced by HPI (52 units each of TMX125 Alpha and Wave 110 Alpha equipped with insulated top boxes were turned over to be utilized by the non-government organization’s various chapters across the country.
On the other hand, the construction supplies that HFI gave last year helped the residents of San Andres, Catanduanes bounced back after their homes were ravaged by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses. Each family received galvanized steel sheets for their roofing needs, sets of marine-grade plywood, coco lumber, and umbrella nails. HFI also gifted them with Honda souvenirs.
To note, the Japanese marque’s local automotive distributor was also lauded for various programs that were extended to Filipinos.
