Honda Lights Up Sepang International Circuit with Fireblade

Honda has just released a new superbike. But with a name like CBR1000RR-R, Honda knew they needed a catchier name to market this bike in. And thus, Honda gave it a much cooler nametag: the Fireblade. The Fireblade was initially revealed at the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori or EICMA in Italy. Then, it hit Malaysian shores at the Sepang International Circuit during the 2019 Races of Malaysia. The Fireblade takes heavy influence on the Honda’s MotoGP Race bike, specifically its chassis and bodywork. The Firebade also has racing technology features such as titanium connecting rods, forged pistons, and finger follower rocker arms. The FIreblade comes in two variants, the standard RR-R, and the track focused SP. Both variants are capable of producing 999 cc 215 hp at 14,500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 12,500 rpm thanks to its inline four. The standard RR-R comes with Showa branded fully adjustable front forks paired with Nissin Kogyo brakes. On the other hand, the SP variant will come with Brembo Stylema brake calipers and Ohlins electronic suspension. Other features include a fully digital colored TFT screen that is almost as big as a standard smartphone, with a fully customizable layout connected to a four way selector switch. The overall layout and body style of the Fireblade is stiff and compact, making it extremely easy to maneuver even at high speeds. A more compact layout between the shafts shortens the overall length of the engine. A large, centrally located ram air duct provides the airflow to the engine. A traditional key unit would have blocked the air duct’s path through the head unit, so Honda integrated the Fireblade with their Smart Key system. Pricing for the Fireblade is still uncertain, and we are waiting when it will go on sale or if it will hit the Philippine market.     [table id=69 />
