Hyundai Motor Philippines’ futuristic automobile has won the hearts of many Filipino car buyers thanks to a host of exterior and interior features that were designed to keep families comfortable and engaged during short and long trips. It also packs a capable powerplant able to take owners from point A to point B without any major difficulties.

But how has the Hyundai Stargazer fared against segment staples since its arrival? Interested to know? Find out as we pit it against the competition.

    Mitsubishi Xpander

The Mitsubishi Xpander is one tough opponent. After all, it is the best-selling MPV in the country.

    The new Mitsubishi Xpander

The vehicle boasts its iconic Diamond Shield fascia flanked by its unmistakable T-shaped headlamps that are as futuristic as the Hyundai Stargazer’s. To its side are 17-inch alloy wheels, probably the largest in the group. The rear of the Mitsubishi Xpander gets new T-shaped taillamps that mimic the design of what can be seen at the front.

Inside, the Mitsubishi Xpander offers seats for seven, a leather steering wheel, a new instrument panel, and a seven-inch infotainment system.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter engine mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission. It makes 103 horsepower (hp) with 141 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

Overall, the Mitsubishi Xpander offers a decent ride for many car buyers, especially for its price. The base variant MPV will set one back P1.068 million.

    Toyota Avanza

The Toyota Avanza is yet another strong contender. It became a more appealing option for car buyers when Toyota gave it a refresh, making it more macho and aggressive despite its small size.

    The all-new Toyota Avanza

At the front of the Toyota Avanza is a simple yet strong-looking grille with split-type LED lights on each side. It rides on smaller 16-inch wheels. The rear of the Avanza sports LED combination lamps.

Its cabin also holds seating for seven passengers that are wrapped in fabric. It has a urethane steering wheel, an instrument panel with a 4.2-inch digital display, and either a 6.75-inch audio unit or an eight-inch infotainment display.

Power comes from either a 1.3-liter engine or a 1.5-liter mill paired with a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. This setup will give owners anywhere from 96 to 104hp and 122 to 138 Nm of torque.

The base variant Toyota Avanza costs only P833,000.

    Suzuki Ertiga

The Suzuki Ertiga, now with a hybrid powertrain, is perfect for consumers looking to own a vehicle that’s more sustainable.

    Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid GLX AT

Believing that being economical doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style, the Suzuki Ertiga dons a stylish grille bordered by halogen projector and multi-reflector headlamps. It wears a set of 15-inch wheels. To the rear of the Suzuki Ertiga are LED combination taillamps.

Inside, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid packs seven seats finished in fabric, a urethane steering wheel, an informative instrument panel, and probably the largest infotainment screen on this list at 10 inches.

It has a 1.5-liter engine accompanied by an integrated starter generator and a 12-volt lithium-ion battery. Married to either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual, this setup makes 103 horses and 138 Nm of torque.

The base variant of the Suzuki Ertiga is priced at P954,000.
