Isuzu PH extend truck sales streak to 21 years

The sole assembler, importer, and distributor of brand-new Isuzu commercial vehicles (CVs) extended its reign anew in terms of vehicle sales—prolonging the streak to more than two decades.

Based on the joint sales report of the Truck Manufacturers Association Inc. (TMA) and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc (CAMPI), Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) led all truck sales categories from January to December 2020.

Despite the difficult situation last year, IPC sold 2,322 units of its N-Series light duty trucks, holding the lion’s share with 53 percent of the total Category III market.

Aside from that, the F-Series medium-duty trucks cornered the biggest share (38 percent) in the Category IV after rolling out 1,064 units, while the C and E-Series heavy-duty trucks pinned a 35-percent share of the Category V market by delivering 320 units.

Overall, IPC’s commercial vehicle (CV) accounted for 3,707 units, or 45.2 percent of the whole market.

While holding the seat for being the Philippines Number 1 truck brand for 21 straight years, IPC occupied the throne as the top Light-Duty truck sales brand for 22 years uninterrupted.

IPC attributed the speedy sales recovery on the 2nd half of 2020 to the consistent demand on trucks, brought about by the increase on logistics delivery service and essential goods delivery, especially in areas with travel restrictions.

With such demand in place, the Isuzu Traviz (under the Category II Cab and Chassis segment), rolled out a total of 2,503 units and captured a 20 percent share on its first year in the market.

IPC President Hajime Koso attributed the continued success to its strong brand reputation of providing durable and reliable products, while striving to provide the best ‘customer solution’.

“By being the ‘responsible partner’, IPC does not just supply world-class vehicles and treat our customers as mere clients, we treat them as partners. Their growth is essential to IPC’s growth, hence, we provide total support to our customers nationwide with great products and aftersales support,” Koso explained.

Further, the D-MAX pick-up sold 3,346 units—a 12-percent increase from 2019 sales. Meanwhile, the mu-X had 1,681 units sold.

As they are set to reveal the latest iteration of the D-Max and mu-X this year, IPC is positive on the brand’s performance for this year.

“We are confident on our truck line-up, but as the demand changes and increase, IPC evolves and is ready to introduce new products that the Philippine market will love. Hopefully, these products will help boost our economy this years,” Koso added.
