Last year’s winners, Oregon Team, will be returning to defend their crown and field three cars at the event. Two of three entries will be entered in the Pro class, one will be shared by Alessandro Tarabini and newcomer Filippo Berto while the other will be driven by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa.

Bonaldi Motorsport will field a pair of experienced drivers in Loris Spinelli and Max Weering.

Several debutants will also be making appearances in the Pro class including Rexal FFF Racing Team’s Dani Pedrosa. The three-time motorcycle world champion will make his race car debut with the Chinese crew and will be paired with former LMP2 driver Antonin Borga.

“It is a new experience for me. My main goal is to have fun and experience the adrenaline of racing. The opportunity presented itself thanks to Lamborghini and with the help of the FFF Racing team this was opened. [It’s an> opportunity to partially participate in the championship with the support of my teammate Antonin Borga, who has experience in motor racing, so I hope to learn from him and the team and enjoy the experience,” said Pedrosa.

Other newcomers include VS Racing’s French pairing of Jean-Luc D’Auria and Stéphane Tribaudini; Leipert Motorsport’s David-Mihai Serban, Jean-François Brunot, and Kerong Li; BDR Competition’s Amaury Bonduel; and Target Racing’s Milan Teekens and Marzio Moretti.

In the Pro-Am class, Oregon Team’s entry will be piloted by Massimo Ciglia and Lewis Williamson while Damian Ciosek and Magnus Gustavsen will race together for Lamborghini Roma Team.

Emanuele Zonzini from San Marino, will team up with Emanuel Colombini at VS Racing while Italian Pietro Perolini and Argentinian Paolo Biglieri complete the Bonaldi line-up. Bronislav Formanek and Josef Zaruba clocks to give the all-Czech Micanek Motorsport team its first class-title win while Zealander Brendon Leitch and Gerhard Watzinger will lead the assault for Leipert Motorsport together with Jürgen Krebs and Tim Torsten Müller.

The Pro-Am class will also see Dan Wells and Oscar Lee return to the Super Trofeo Europe, now under Rexal FFF Racing Team. Dmitry Gvazava, now pairing with newcomer Milan Petelet will race for Target Racing while Grzegorz Moczulski and Rafal Mikrut will be competing under the GT3 Poland banner.

The Am class will also see various entries from teams including Arkadia Racing, GT3 Poland, AKF Motorsport, Leipert Motorsport, and Automobile Tricolore.

In the Lamborghini Cup, two-time defending champion Hans Fabri is back for another season with Imperiale Racing. He’ll be up against three-time champion Gerard van der Horst (champion in 2016, 2017, and 2018) as well as the 2019 title-winning sibling pairing of Benoît and François Semoulin (Semspeed). Runner-up in 2021, father-and-son duo Luciano and Donovan Privitelio will be targeting the title with Rexal FFF Racing Team, which will also field a second car in the LB Cup class for Kumar Prabakaran. Sandro Mur will drive solo for Bonaldi Motorsport.

This will not be Lamborghini Super Trofeo’s first dance at Imola. It was once featured on Super Trofeo Europe’s calendar at the fifth edition of the World Finals, back in 2017.

The 2022 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe kicks off on the weekend of April 1.
