The groups made the call during the Department of Health’s outdoor weekend-long activity at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
Per ImagineLaw, Department of Education Assistant Secretary Dr. Dex Galban and DOH Health Promotion Bureau Chief Rodley Carza joined the call.

“Hindi pwedeng hari-harian sa kalsada (You can't act like a king on the road),” ImagineLaw’s Project Manager for Road Safety Atty. Daphne Marcelo said. “We need to learn how to build a community and a road system that protects vulnerable road users, especially children.”
Citing the data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the group cited that at least 1,670 Filipino children are killed by road crashes annually.
“Road crashes are an epidemic that kills our children,” Marcelo said.
The law group also stated that last month, a five-year-old was killed by a passing truck in Taguig.
“We need to work together in building a set of solutions to end this epidemic: safer driving behavior, better infrastructure for pedestrians, commuters, and drivers, and strict and sensible enforcement of traffic rules,” Marcelo noted.
Earlier, the public interest law group launched a website called “Dahan-Dahan Sa Daan,” a database of all speed limit ordinances in the Philippines.
