Mazda to revive rotary engine for MX-30 PHEV

Mazda announced that it will bring back the rotary engine to power the MX-30 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

    The Mazda MX-30 PHEV will be at the 2023 Brussels Motor Show in Belgium.
  • According to Mazda, the returning engine type, which will be revealed at the upcoming 2023 Brussels Motor Show, will be out of the ordinary as it will power an electric generator, alongside the brand’s plug-in hybrid powertrain. Hence, it is dubbed the “rotary engine for the electric age.”


    According to Mazda, the reinvented rotary engine shows how the automotive brand remains faithful to its multi-solution approach to the global challenges of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
