Mercedes-Benz unboxes more versatile eSprinter

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new eSprinter — an all-electric van that promises versatility to its customers.

According to Mercedes-Benz Vans, the eSprinter will come in two body styles (a panel van and a cab and chassis), three battery sizes (56, 81, and 113 kilowatt-hours), and a higher payload capacity.

Per the Stuttgart-based brand, the estimated range of the new eSprinter is up to 400 kilometers.

Power peaks at 201 horses while torque maxes out at 400Nm.

“The new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter consistently follows our strategy - to be the leader in electric mobility with the most desirable vans while achieving profitable growth worldwide,” said Mercedes-Benz Vans Head Mathias Geisen.

In the United States (US) and Canada, where it will be launched come the second half of the year, Mercedes-Benz will offer the eSprinter as a long wheelbase panel van with a high roof equipped with the largest battery available. Further, the US and Canada-market eSprinter will have a load capacity of 14 cubic meters and a gross vehicle weight of up to 3,855 kilograms.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom-market eSprinter will be made available in Europe by the end of 2023. The initial body style to be rolled out in the region will be a panel van and will be followed by the cab chassis variant and other battery variants gradually.

“With the new eSprinter, we are taking the electric large van segment to a new level. The triad of efficiency, range, and load capacity with simultaneous Total Cost of Ownership optimization makes the new eSprinter the most versatile Mercedes-Benz eVan ever,” stated Geisen.
