MMDA: Light truck ban on EDSA and Shaw Boulevard to resume May 24
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced today that it will re-impose the ban on light trucks along EDSA and Shaw Boulevard starting Monday, May 24.
The agency prohibits "motor vehicles with a gross capacity weight 4,500 kilograms or below, and/or having six or more tires, the payload area of which are either enclosed or open" to ply EDSA from Magallanes, Makati City until North Avenue, Quezon City, both northbound and southbound, from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m.; and along Shaw Boulevard (Mandaluyong City and Pasig City) from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. as stated in MMDA’s uniform light trucks ban, which you can read here.
However, exempted from the ban are light trucks that are registered in the name of any government office, agency, or unit including the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police, and duly marked as such.
Emergency vehicles like fire trucks and ambulances are also excluded.
Light trucks carrying perishable goods might still need to apply for and secure an exemption from the MMDA.
The uniform light trucks ban shall be in effect Monday to Saturday except for Sundays and holidays.
Violators will be fined P2,000.
