'My BMW', 'Mini' apps have 100M active users

The BMW Group shared that over 10 million drivers use the smartphone application for BMW and Mini cars.

The apps enable our customers to communicate directly with us and their vehicles — and provide the BMW Group with direct customer access,” said BMW Member of the Board of Management Pieter Nota.

    The My BMW and Mini offer many useful features. Through the apps, BMW and Mini owners can lock and unlock the doors, activate climate control or ventilation, and — depending on the equipment fitted on the vehicle — view the vehicle's surroundings and interior using Remote 3D View.

    Additionally, the applications allow owners to easily send destination addresses to the vehicle’s navigation system.

    The BMW and Mini apps are also capable of managing third-party services such as Amazon Alexa. Also, the My BMW App (in conjunction with BMW Digital Key Plus and depending on the vehicle equipment) can execute previously saved maneuvers and automated parking functions from a distance of up to approximately six meters.

    On that note, these apps have been very much in demand since they were launched back in 2020 when they replaced their respective predecessors.

    Since then, the consortium explained, the apps have been continuously expanded and constantly optimized based on user feedback. Both apps will continue to receive updates every two months and their range of features will be extended.

    Currently, the My BMW and Mini apps are available in the countries below:

    And while the applications are still not available for Filipino BMW and Mini owners, the BMW Group said that the My BMW app, for example, will be available in other countries soon.

    The My BMW App is compatible with all BMW vehicles from the 2014 model year (MY) onwards in conjunction with the option ConnectedDrive Services and a compatible smartphone. The Mini app, on the other hand, is compatible with all Mini vehicles from the 2018 MY.
