NLEX Marilao NB lanes re-opens following truck mishap

MANILA: Motorists can now fully utilize the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) today as the Marilao portion’s northbound lanes have been re-opened.

The said portion was partially closed after a truck hit the Marilao Interchange Bridge.

Based on the announcement made by the NLEX Corporation, all four lanes in the aforementioned segment are passable as of 1 a.m. and ahead of its two-week scheduled completion.

“While all lanes are now passable, supporting steel poles will remain on the lanes to allow concrete curing of the bridge. With this development, traffic flow in Marilao Northbound is expected to improve and normalize in the next few days,” toll operator shared.

Per NLEX Corporation, the company accelerated the repairs, “with teams working around the clock and with the expedited delivery of the fabricated steel needed for the bridge.”

“We thank the motoring public for their utmost understanding and patience while repairs were ongoing. Rest assured that NLEX continues to intensify safety and traffic measures in key areas of the expressway to ensure the safety and convenience of our valued customers.”

On the other hand, the Department of Transportation thanked the firm for the swift response in opening all four lanes.

“This shows the commitment and dedication of both the DOTr and its partners like NLEX Corp.  to respond quickly to problems such as this to try and provide a seamless and comfortable travel experience for all Filipinos,” the agency shared.
