Nueva Ecija’s Cesar Angeles–Emilio Vergara Bypass Road to Become Six Lanes

More motorists can soon enjoy Nueva Ecija's bypass road after the Cesar Angeles-Emilio Vergara Bypass Road is being widened to six lanes.

The 12.35-kilometer bypass road that connects Santa Rosa and Cabanatuan City is undergoing Phase 2, District Engineer Ricardo Puno of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office (DEO) stated in his report to Department Secretary Mark Villar.

From two lanes, the four-lane addition will have a total of 4.16 kilometers.

"We are glad to announce that we are close to completing the second phase covering a total of 2.02-kilometers of the bypass road. This is in addition to the 2.14 kilometer-segment that was widened under Phase 1 in 2018," Puno said.

"The expansion of the Cesar Angeles-Emilio Vergara Bypass Road is among our priority projects in the province as it serves as an alternative road to Cabanatuan, eastern side of Nueva Ecija and Aurora Province. It has also opened a whole new area of residential and commercial development in the province," he added.

According to Puno, the widening of the bypass road is also necessary in anticipation for the Cabanatuan Interchange Exit of the Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEX) in Barangay Caalibangbangan, Cabanatuan City.

The DPWH has already submitted the request for allocation of fund to finance the widening of the remaining sections of the project which also includes the widening of existing two-lane bridges.

A total of PHP100 million was initially allocated for Phase 1 and 2 of Cesar Angeles--Emilio Vergara Bypass Road Widening Project. The multi-year project is planned for completion by 2021.
