The Honda XRM125, which was previously only made available for the Philippine market, will soon be available in a land foreign to it as the Philippine distributor will be begin exporting it to New Zealand come next month.
Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI), the leading motorcycle distributor in the country, will stamp its presence in New Zealand with the locally manufactured XRM125, saying that the motorcycle is suited in the area for its on and off-road usage to cater to the needs of the country’s dairy and livestock industry workers.
HPI President Susumu Mitsuishi said he takes pride in the exportation of the said dual sport offering, stating benefits from this opportunity.
"We see the exportation of these motorcycle units as the perfect opportunity to put Philippine-made motorcycles on the map since we can also consider ourselves as a motorcycle-riding country. It can also help the economy recover as we hope this opportunity can provide and sustain jobs in the manufacturing industry in the future," Mitsuishi was quoted as saying.
Once a Philippine exclusive, the model debuted back in 2001, and already has a total production volume of over 1.83 million units to date.
Equipped in the Honda XRM125 is an efficient 125cc PGM-Fi engine that can register 65.4km/L fuel consumption—according to the World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC).
It is also equipped with features such as a spacious utility box, pillion step, muffler, Sporty CRF-inspired headlight, and digital meter panel.
The off-roader look—thanks to the handlebars, knuckle guard, and front fender—complements the techno sport-inspired decals and color variations of Ceramic Gray, Dark Green, Fighting Red and Aura Blue.
In the Philippine market, the Honda XRM125 is being retailed at all Honda motorcycle dealerships at P67,900 up to P73,600 (depending on the variant).
According to HPI, their endeavor to put “Philippine-made motorcycles on the map and provide more opportunities for the economy is in line with Honda's ONE DREAM campaign, which aims to help fulfill Filipino's dreams through the joy of mobility brought by Honda motorcycles.”
