PUV Modernization Kicks Off in Cavite
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the local government of Naic, Cavite kick-started the public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program in the municipality with the introduction of four 22-seater mini buses lent by the agency to local operators.
The launch, which was held at the Cavite municipality's Town Hall grounds last Friday, February 8, was hosted by Naic Mayor Junio Dualan and Councilor Ferdinand Wakay, chair of the City Council's committee on transportation.
The four mini buses are just the first batch of the 50 units from DOTr designated for distribution in Cavite. These would ply three routes: Naic-Zapote, Las Piñas via Tanza, and Tejero-Centennial-Island Cove Road.
"Napakagandang programa po ito para sa commuters ng Naic,at sa aming mga drivers at operators of Naic-Zapote route.Magiging maginhawa po ang byahe ng mga pasahero, dahil lahat po ito ay bago at aircon pa," said Rey Acido of the Naic-Zapote Operators and Drivers Association.
The modern buses, which will be stationed at the Naic Grand Terminal in Barangay Ibayong Silangan, will begin operations on March 12.
