Typhoon Update: 5 Roads Closed, Many Remain 1-Lane Passable
Some five national roads remain impassable following the onslaught brought by Typhoon Usman.
The Department of Public Works and Highways Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) reported that as of Thursday (January 3) noontime, concerned field offices are conducting clearing operations at Marikina-Infanta Road, K0114+838 in Barangay Magsaysay, Infanta, Quezon due to road cut; DM Jct. Legazpi-Sto. Domingo-Tabaco-Cam. Sur Bdry. Road sections K0579+000, K579+100, K579+600, K579+920, K579+960, in Barangays Maynonong, Dapdap, Mayong in Tiwi, Albay due to landslide; Buyo Bridge 2, Legaspi City-Punta de Jesus Road, Molabago Area in Albay due to Damaged bridge approach and flood control structures.
Also, roads in Camarines Sur such as Pili-Tigaon-Albay Bdry. Road sections K0504+250, K0504+350, K504+490, K504+690, K504+720, K505+020, K0505+050, K0505+350, K505+480, K505+750 due to landslide; Baao-Iriga City-Nabua Road, K468+250, are closed due to damaged Waras Bridge at K468+250.
Meanwhile, some road sections in Region V only have one passable lane such as: Daang Maharlika Road sections K0284+337; K0284+600 - K0284+650; K0267+617 - K0267+642; K0251+481 to K0251+533 in Camarines Norte; Maligaya-Caramoan Road, K0568+100 in Bahay, Camarines Sur; CCR - Virac - San Miguel -Viga Road Section, CCR K0021+300 section in Barangay Kilikilihan, Mun. of San Miguel, Camarines Sur; CCR Pandan Candan - Caramoran - san Andres - Virac Road Section, K0156+700+100 Brgy. Lubasi, San Andres, K0162+100 Brgy Manambrag, San Andres, K0172+440 Brgy Mayngaway, San Andres, K0158+300 Brgy Cabungahan, San Andres, K0125+740, Brgy. Tubli, Mun. of Caramoan, K0146+950 Brgy. Guiamlong, Mun. of Caramoan; and the Baras-Gigmoto-Viga Road, K0060+400 Brgy. Sioron, Mun. of Gigmoto.
The estimated partial cost of damage to roads and bridges has reached P2.49 billion, with P407.1 million damage in Region IV-A, and P2.083 billion in Region V.
