Volkswagen PH Sales Up by 133% for First Half of 2017
Volkswagen Philippines, the best-selling European car brand in the country in 2016, closed the first half of 2017 on a high note by selling 566 units, a 133 percent increase over the 243 units it sold for the same period in 2016. This bolsters the brand's bid to be the Philippines' number one European car brand for two consecutive years.
Leading Volkswagen's sales run for the first half of 2017 is also it's best-selling model for 2016: the Volkswagen Jetta compact sedan, and Volkswagen Philippines expects this to continue with the recent addition of two new variants: the range-topping Business Edition+ and the Business Edition.
Another model that's helping to push Volkswagen Philippines' sales so far for 2017 is the Volkswagen Golf GTS, a compact station wagon that can carry 220 liters of cargo with the rear seats deployed--350 liters if the rear seats are stowed--and whose initial sales run has already been sold out although additional units are reportedly already on their way here.
Like the Jetta, the Golf GTS is available in both the range-topping Business Edition and the Business Edition. And like the Jetta, the Golf GTS is powered by the same 2.0-turbocharged, direct-injection diesel engine that's mated to a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox to produce 148 hp and 340 Nm of torque.
Prices for the Volkswagen Jetta is P1.25 million for the Business Edition and and P1.3 million for the Business Edition+ while for the Golf GTS, the prices are at P1.35 million for the Business Edition and P1.4 million for the Business Edition+.
