WATCH: Dodge hypes up 2023 Hornet arrival in US with new video

Dodge stirred up quite the buzz as it released a new video to hype up the arrival of the 2023 Hornet in the United States (US) market.

The 90-second video, dubbed “Swarming the Nation,” shows newscasters, reporters, and even social media influencers talking about the impending arrival of a “swarm of Hornets.” The video initially sets a foreboding tone, causing the public to panic as “a new breed of Hornet” threatens to take over Michigan, and soon, everywhere else.

The mood quickly changes when the humming of Dodge’s latest crossover is heard.

“With news of the all-new Dodge Hornet’s arrival to the US market so highly anticipated, this fully integrated marketing campaign is designed to capture the excitement and curiosity of our audiences through a provocative and impactful approach, consistent with what our Brotherhood of Muscle has come to expect from us,” commented Stellantis North America Senior Vice President of Marketing Marissa Hunter.

The 2023 Dodge Hornet GT is powered by a 2.0-liter Hurricane4 engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with an all-wheel-drive system. This powertrain setup makes 268 horsepower (hp) and almost 400Nm of pulling power. 

To note, Dodge unveiled the 2023 Hornet GT in August 2022 and confirmed its arrival late last year. 

“As our first ever electrified performance vehicle to enter the market, the all-new Dodge Hornet signals that a new breed of electrified performance is here, and it is here to change the game. With looks, feel and performance that is pure Dodge, the Hornet offers the best driving dynamics, a full lineup of segment-exclusive performance features, the best standard technology, as well available Direct Connection factory-backed performance upgrades, the Dodge Hornet is uniquely positioned to shake up the mainstream compact-utility vehicle (CUV) segment,” said Dodge Chief Executive Officer Tim Kuniskis.

Accompanying the 2023 Dodge Hornet GT is the electrified Hornet R/T.

Performance-wise, it makes 288 horses — 20hp more than the GT thanks to its rear-mounted electric motor — and 519Nm of torque. Its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle system allows the 2023 Dodge Hornet R/T to reach a top speed of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) and a zero to (almost) 100kph acceleration in just 5.6 seconds.

It comes standard with an all-wheel-drive system with dynamic torque vectoring, and can be optioned with available segment-exclusive features like Brembo brakes and a dual-stage suspension setup.

Price for the 2023 Dodge Hornet nameplate,  according to the Stellantis-owned carmaker,  starts at US$30,000 (about P1.659 million).
