We Now Know What the 2021 Cadillac Escalade’s Curve OLED Screen Looks Like

Cadillac has finally revealed what its much touted curved Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) screen looks like, and it’s far from the 38-inch infotainment screen previously thought.

As the centerpiece of the fifth generation Escalade, the OLED screen is not actually a single screen, but a triple screen array that adds up to 38-inches in total, and it’s a piece of technology that’s never been seen before in any car—except of course, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade.

The triple screen layout consists of different sized screens—the largest of which measures 16.9 inches, handles infotainment duties. Meanwhile, the middle sized 14.2 inch screen serves as the instrument cluster. The third screen to the left of the cluster measures 7.2 inches and provides trip information in real time.

The OLED screens are paper-thin, and their curved positions provide optimal visibility to driver and passengers alike.

According to Cadillac, OLED technology is a vast improvement from your typical LED screen. It produces the deepest blacks, the most vivid colors, and unmatched contrast ratios. These remarkable features are why you will often see OLED used in pricey phones and television appliances, the luxury carmaker explains.

Cadillac is the first auto brand to ever use OLED in their vehicles.

“There is something special about driving an Escalade,” said Steve Carlisle, Cadillac president. “It has the bold presence and exclusive technology to elevate the extraordinary and make every drive feel like an occasion.”

Aside from the massive OLED screen, the latest Escalade also boasts the first AKG automotive audio system and Cadillac’s acclaimed Super Cruise driver assistance technology, further expanding on the luxury SUV’s more than 20 years of segment-defining leadership.

Additionally, the new Escalade incorporates several other advanced, vision-oriented features, including:

  • All-new, available Augmented Reality-enabled navigation, which uses live street views with directional overlays and more to enhance driving directions.
  • Surround Vision, a standard feature that employs four exterior cameras to provide a 2-megapixel bird’s-eye view of the scene around the vehicle.
  • An available Trailering Integration Package, which offers up to nine camera views (including rear camera guidelines) to support easier hitching. The package also includes an integrated trailer brake controller and a trailering app that offers trailer profiles, tire pressure and temperature monitoring, and an Extended Side Blind Zone Alert.
  • Rear Camera Mirror, an available feature that streams a rear-facing camera view on the conventional inside mirror screen.
  • Night Vision, an available feature that uses infrared technology to enhance forward visibility, including detection of pedestrians and large animals, projected on the center cluster display.
  • New rear-seat entertainment features a pair of 6-inch-diagonal independent touch displays with navigation as well as streaming capability to play games, music and videos through HDMI and USB inputs. The screens can also mirror Android smartphones. Additionally, destination “suggestions” can be “sent” by rear passengers to the front navigation screen, for the driver to accept or decline.

On top of it all, Escalade buyers can customize their own Escalade Premium Luxury Platinum trim using a 360 Visualizer tool that allows them to choose from eight exterior colors and three interior configurations.

Cadillac plans to launch their flagship SUV in the third quarter this year in North America, with pricing and other pertinent info to follow.
