Audi RS5 Coupe Review
Audi RS5 Coupe Overview
The Audi RS5 Coupe 2020 is known for its 2-door high-performance model. RS5 Coupe is derived from the German carmaker’s A5 coupe. It has an evolutionary styling but is clearly more aggressive than its previous version. It features a large honeycomb “singleframe” front grille with massive air intakes and matrix LED headlamps.
This version is a rowdier alternative to the A5 and S5 models however it's considerably pricier and not available as a convertible. But, the RS5 has the highest performance and boldest styling of them all. Its impressive straight-line speed and sharp cornering abilities are attributed to its powerful twin-turbo V6 and standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Impressive, indeed.
Despite its aggressive appearance and track-ready hardware, the mighty Audi coupe is actually a comfortable car for daily drives whether to school, office, or even just the market. It also lacks the uncompromising qualities that make some of its competitors more compelling to drive. Meanwhile, its cabin is quilted with opulent surfaces and laden with luxuries such as massaging front seats. While the 2020 RS5 is more beauty than beast, it's still a beast nonetheless.
This wondrous car is available in 8 colors - Glacier White Metallic, Floret Silver Metallic, Daytona Grey Pearl, Misano Red Pearl, Mythos Black Metallic, Sonoma Green Metallic, Navarra Blue Metallic and Nardo Gray. Since this car will probably be launched only later this year or in early 2021, it still has no price tag on it. But given it’s cool features and design, who wouldn’t be excited to get to know this car a little more?
Audi RS5 Coupe Interior
The RS5 Coupe flaunts high tech equipment and luxurious materials that might have given you a guess of its extravagant worth. If that didn’t give you a hint, just take a look at its luscious interior that comes with an optional diamond stitching, fully digital gauge cluster, heated steering wheel, and a head-up display.
The seats also feature both reliability and comfortability with its standard front sport seats and massage functions to give comfort to both the driver and passenger. It can accommodate two adults of average height in its back seat. Every cabin, on the other hand, provides ambient interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and three-zone climate control, perfect for relaxation on exhausting road trips.
The state-of-the-art infotainment system comes with a 7.0-inch center display and accompanying rotary control that can be tilted to face the driver. Although not having dual touch screens, the RS5 is still equipped with the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
Standard interior materials can be chosen from Black with Crescendo Red and Fine Nappa Leather Seating Surface, Black with Rock Gray and Fine Nappa Leather Seating Surfaces, Black with Rock Gray, and Leather/Alcantara Seating Surface and lastly, Silver with Rock Gray and Fine Nappa Leather Seating Surfaces.
Audi RS5 Coupe Exterior
This car’s exterior highlights include the 3D-like wavy shoulder line and the new single-frame honeycomb grill that’s wider flatter and has a glossy black design. Going behind the grille you’ll see the old school air vents from 1984 Audi Sport Quattro.
RS5 stands at the height of 1358 mm and measured 4723 mm long and 2029 mm wide with a ground clearance of 160 mm, gross weight of 2155 kg, and kerb weight of 1770 kg.
Buyers of the RS5 can also opt for the RS-specific darkened Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light rather than the Standard lighting systems that use Matrix LED Headlights. Since it was tweaked for a sportier look, a pentagonal, geometric cut is now equipped in the large side air inlets.
The wheel arches are flared by an additional 15 mm on each side. The Audio RS5 inherits new still trims, plus fun eye-candy with the light and shadow play visible on each door panel. Meanwhile, the RS exhaust system uses a diffuser insert for greater rear accent and dual chrome tailpipes.
Audi RS5’s distinct exterior feature is the clamshell-like hood of this car so it adds extra texture and character to the car itself.
Audi RS5 Coupe Ride & Handling
The suspension of the Audi RS5 is handled by Multiple Links for both front and rear. Although the ride quality is characterized as a little bit uncomfortable or stiff, this car actually has some nice interior and comfortable seats, to begin with.
As for the steering, it uses a rack and pinion type with a 36.4 ft. turning radius. Behind the wheel, the meanest version of Audi's sports coupe is easy to control and enjoyable to exploit, with docile handling that is predictable in both wet and dry conditions.
Audi RS5 Coupe Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering this highway cutie is the 2894 cc 2.9-liter TFSI Twin-Turbo V6 Gas engine that can fire up to 444 horsepower at 5700 rpm and a maximum torque of 600 Nm at 1900 rpm. This is the same mill that the Porsche Panamera 4S uses so you can definitely experience luxury and power in one go.
It is mated with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission tuned for RS performance and can be operated through aluminum paddle shifters. Power is sent to a Quattro permanent all-wheel drive layout that uses a 40:60 power distribution in normal driving conditions. Track conditions will allow the system to redirect 70% of the power in the front or up to 85% to the rear. Meanwhile, driving modes include comfort, auto, dynamic, and now, RS1 and RS2. Both can be individually configured, saved, and then selected directly and quickly via the RS Mode button on the steering wheel. The RS suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control is available when you upgrade your unit.
This car can go from standstill to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds. It is also estimated that this car can run at 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Audi RS5 Coupe Braking & Safety
RS5 Coupe got a coil spring shock absorber type and has a heap of safety features for careful driving. These are: Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Rear and Front Side Airbags, Child Safety Locks, Vehicle Stability Control System, Rear Seat Belts, and Seat Belt Warning, Day and Night Rear View Mirrors, Parking Sensors, Crash Sensor, Front, and Side Impact Beams, Door Ajar Warning, and Tyre Pressure Monitor.
It also comes with the now seemingly standard for all vehicles Anti-Lock Braking System (ABD) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. Some driving assistance features are also intact in this car including Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, and lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist. Some Automatic High Beams and Self-Parking Assist features are available only upon upgrade.
