Porsche Macan

Just like other Porsche vehicles, the Macan's interior just screams luxury and sophistication. This luxury compact SUV is equipped with the brand’s advanced cockpit, which offers a hi-tech 10.9-inch touchscreen communication management display that offers navigation, voice control, and smartphone navigation and is linked to an 8-loudspeaker sound package plus system. 

All variants also have a fabric roof lining and sun visors for the driver and his or her front passenger. Riding the Macan is not your typical family crossover setup since it also offers a sports steering wheel for the driver and blacked-out interior features (e.g., seat belts, instrument dial, and interior trim) for all passengers.

The Porsche Macan’s current look is more refined than ever, showcasing a techier look but retaining its predecessor’s sophisticated silhouette. At the front, it sports a pair of LED headlights and Porsche’s premium Dynamic Light System (PDLS) with static and dynamic cornering lights, which give this car an ethereal gaze at night. If you happen to follow this car on the road, you’ll also notice its LED taillight that is shaped as a continuous strip. All variants are made with an aluminum roof and blacked out sideskirts. However, for the GTS model, its sideskirts have a SportDesign, which give the top-of-the-line variant a more premium sporty look. 

The base Macan and S are made with Lava Black-textured sideblades, while the T variant’s painted in Agate Grey Metallic and a “Macan T” designation in high-gloss black. Meanwhile, the GTS has matte black sideblades with a glossy black “GTS” logo. All variants get an automatic tailgate, body shape SUV, and roof spoilers. The GTS’s spoiler is specifically unique since it has a double-wing design and fin-like look. No matter the variant, the Macan line’s design just shows us the elite side of crossovers in the current market. 

The base variant has the basic 19-inch Macan wheels, whereas the T variant has 20-inch Macan S wheels painted in Dark Titanium. Meanwhile, the S variant has the same as T’s but are highly-polished. On the other hand, the GTS variant sports 21-inch RS Spyder Design satin black wheels. In terms of size, all variants have a length of  4,726 mm, a width of 1,927 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,807 mm.

All variants use Porsche’s Active Suspension Management (PASM), which is one of the main reasons why driving this car is very easy. Similar to the 718, the Macan also has very responsive steering and good turning capability, making this compact SUV a breeze to maneuver around the city. 

The Porsche Macan offers two engine options: 2.0L, inline four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine for the base and T variants and 2.9L, twin-turbo V6 engine for the S and GTS variants. The first engine produces a maximum power output of 265 PS, a maximum torque of 400 Nm, and a top speed of 232 kmph. On the other hand, the second engine produces a maximum power output that ranges from 380 to 440 PS, a maximum torque that ranges from 520 to 550 Nm, and top speeds of 259 kmph for the S variant and 272 kmph for the GTS. All variants run on Porsche’s 7-speed Doppelkupplung (automatic transmission) and utilize an all-wheel-drive system.

For a vehicle that is marketed as a crossover, the Macan offers an exciting driving experience that only a class-leading sports car could give. This is great for both city and highway driving. However, if you worry about fuel consumption, then I suggest you consider other options. This vehicle has an appetite for fuel in order to power up its powerful V6 engine, ensuring that you’ll get a thrilling cruising experience with your loved ones. 

The Porsche Macan is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems such as the brand’s ParkAssist with visual and audible warning, lane departure warning, and cruise control with speed limiter. It is also given standard safety features and rain sensors. In terms of braking, the base, T, and S variants utilize a brake system with brake calipers, while the GTS variant has Porsche’s Surface Coated Brake with brake calipers.

Setting aside its expensive price, the Porsche Macan is class-leading when it comes to offering smooth maneuverability while running on a powerful engine that is almost at par with other locally-available luxury sports cars. The Macan is your cheapest opportunity to savor Porsche’s level of performance.
