Nissan GT-R

Like many premium supercars, the Nissan GT-R’s cabin layout is also driver-focused. Its interior styling has a mixture of leather, aluminum, and carbon-fiber. Its seats come with a hand-stitched semi-aniline leather upholstery that may not be the most comfortable but still provides supportive cushioning overall. The car’s front seats are power-adjustable and heated. The GT-R offers a cockpit that helps the driver perform at his or her best. It comes with a 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with multiple controls for audio, handsfree telephone, cruise control, and lap timer as well as an instrument panel that has a standard meter with upshift indicator, vehicle information display, and a gear indicator. The GT-R also has a leather-wrapped shift knob and aluminum sport pedals, both of which can contribute to the driver’s satisfying driving experience inside the vehicle. 

This super car is equipped with an 8-inch Nissan Advanced touchscreen display audio that is already outdated for current standards since it has no Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It only offers Bluetooth, USB, CD, MP3, and a Tuner. It is, however, linked to an 11-speaker BOSE Premium Audio System with a dual subwoofer, ensuring that everyone on board can enjoy high-quality bass and sound acoustics all around the vehicle. That said, the Nissan GT-R shows the brand’s mastery when it comes to providing consumers with a highly-functional and driver-centric cabin layout.

The Nissan GT-R’s outside appearance just exudes power and sheer dominance. It showcases its model line’s timeless design language, which will always remain iconic to many. Its facelifted facade is illuminated by super wide beam multi-projector LED headlamps with AFS as well as LED DRLs. It has upper and lower blacked-out grilles with a honeycomb pattern. The GT-R emblem acts as its upper grille’s beautiful centerpiece. On the sides, it has air vents, heated power-foldable and adjustable door mirrors, and flush-mounted aluminum door handles with an i-Key Switch. Its striking silhouette is defined by well-proportioned curves and sharp character lines. 

Trailing behind this vehicle would certainly be a feast for the eyes. Its back end is enhanced by GT-R signature LED tail lamps, LED fog lamps, a rear spoiler, and a quad-tip titanium exhaust with burnt tip and sound control, all of which contribute to its unmatched sportiness and brashness on the road.

The Nissan GT-R measures 4,710 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,370 mm in height. It has a 2,780 mm wheelbase and a 110 mm ground clearance. This super car is equipped with 20 x 9.5 RAYS forged-alloy wheels at the front and has the 20 x 10.5 counterpart at the rear.

The Nissan GT-R utilizes a suspension combination of a Double-Wishbone Suspension with Aluminum Upper Links and Lower Arms at the front and a Multi-Link Suspension with Aluminum Upper Links at the rear. It also comes with Nissan’s Bilstein DampTronic Suspension System. This car boasts impressive handling and adaptability on different kinds of roads courtesy of its state-of-the-art suspension setup. It offers class-leading responsiveness and grip even when hitting turns or corners at high speeds. However, driving this on busy urban roads with immense traffic might not give you the most comfortable cruising experience that you would expect. It runs smoothly and comfortably on free-flowing highways, but not as much in the city where traffic is prevalent.

The Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8L, DOHC 24-valve, Twin-Turbocharged V6 engine with a Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System. This powertrain produces a maximum power output of 570 PS and a maximum torque of 637 Nm. This super car runs on the brand’s ATTESA E-TS All-Wheel Drivetrain with a Patented Independent Rear-Mounted Transaxle and a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission system with paddle shifter and rev-matching.

This car is just too quick and too powerful on the highway. It definitely lives up to the hype. However, if you are planning to use it as a daily driver in the city, you may want to reconsider. It has an extreme thirst for fuel, especially when you are maximizing its engine’s performance. At the end of the day, this super car is built for free-flowing highways and race tracks. Hence, this would make a better weekend car than a daily vehicle in the busy and densely-populated city.

One of the main weaknesses of the Nissan GT-R is its lack of advanced driver assistance systems. It is only equipped with multiple SRS airbags, hill start assist, a reverse camera, parking sensors, a high mount stop lamp, seatbelts, a tire pressure monitoring system, and an anti-theft system with an engine immobilizer. 

The braking setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system with a brake assist, along with vehicle dynamic control and a traction control system. It utilizes 6-piston monoblock calipers on 15.3-inch ventilated rotors at the front, while a 4-piston version on 15.0-inch ventilated rotors at the rear.

In all honesty, the Nissan GT-R is really not a practical option for a daily vehicle in the city. But, if money is never a problem for you or if you are just looking for a super enjoyable weekend vehicle, then this super car would be one of the best fits for you. Fuel consumption and lack of safety features-aside, its class-leading performance, impressive handling and adaptability, and timeless exterior design have the power to set you apart from other drivers on the road.
