New and Used Nissan Serena for Sale Philippines 2017
In your search for the best minivan or MPV in the used car market, it might be easy for you to overlook certain models that aren’t absolute lookers, but are definitely up to the challenge and fit right into your budget. The Nissan Serena is a great example of a front-wheel drive MPV that is unfairly overlooked, but deserves a fair chance. This vehicle has a seating capacity for up to 10 people, and is ready to win the hearts of individuals who are in need of a versatile minivan that simply does its job well.
Also known as the Suzuki Landy in Japan and the successor of the Nissan Vanette, the Nissan Serena was first manufactured in 1991 at the Nissan Oppama Plant. It was brought into the country by Nissan Motors Philippines (NMP) in 2002, which was then in its second generation. Although the Nissan Serena was the best-selling minivan in Japan from 2007-2009, it didn’t perform well in terms of sales in the Philippines, so in 2012, NMP had no choice but to pull out the Serena from their local offerings. However, the Nissan Serena is still up and about in other markets overseas as its current fourth generation offers a Serena hybrid variant.
It’s unfortunate that the Nissan hybrid MPV, the Serena S Hybrid, didn’t get to enter the Philippine auto scene, and probably won’t for a while. Nonetheless, the Nissan Serena persevered to work on its flaws and upgraded for the benefit of markets that remain loyal to it. The fourth generation focuses on being an eco-friendly family MPV with ECO technologies such as the direct-injection engine with Xtronic CVT and Idling Stop System.
Minivans or MPVs are not exactly the top choice for Filipino drivers, unless they have a growing family (three kids or more), a transport business, or other commercial ventures. Then again, the fact that minivans are among the most efficient and roomiest rides can’t be denied by anyone, making it a tough competitor between the Hyundai Starex vs Kia Carnival vs Toyota Innova.
