Nearly two months after it made its global debut, the
Ford Ranger Raptor is now officially on sale, with Thailand getting the first dibs on the
high-performance midsize pickup truck at a price of
THB1.699 million (over PHP2.855 million).
The Ranger Raptor's appearance at the ongoing
39th Bangkok International Motor Show is its first in public and orders for it are now being accepted on both the show floor until April 8 and at all Ford dealerships nationwide.
"We are thrilled to build our Ranger success story here in Thailand and across the region with the first-ever Ranger Raptor, which combines the Ranger's renowned 'Built Ford Tough' character with Ford Performance DNA to set anew benchmark in off-road capability," said Ford ASEAN President
Yukontorn "Vickie" Wisadkosin. "The Raptor is the ultimate Ranger, and will help Ford once again revolutionize the market for pickup truck enthusiasts."
As we previously reported, the Ford Ranger Raptor is powered by a
2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine that produces
210 hp and
500 Nm of torque through a
10-speed automatic transmission–the same one used by the F-150 Raptor–for a a wider ratio-span that results in better acceleration and responsiveness.
The Ranger Raptor rides on race-bred suspension with
Fox Racing Shox dampers with
46.6 mm pistons for the front and rear and
285/70 R 17 BF Goodrich all-terrain tires specially developed for the vehicle with its tough sidewall, a grippy tread, and an aggressive off-road tread pattern that provides grip in wet, mud, sand and snow conditions.
The Ford Ranger Raptor also comes with
unique underbody protection to deflect off-road obstacles. The new bash plate is made from
2.3 mm thick high-strength steel and meets enhanced capabilities for strength in-line with Ford performance.
