ADVISORY: 2022 MMFF Parade of Stars set for today

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists to take alternative routes in time for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars 2022 that is set today (December 21).

  • The agency reminded the public that the parade will kick off from the Mabuhay Rotonda starting at 4 p.m. and will go through Quezon Avenue until reaching the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC), where the main event will take place at the Liwasang Aurora.

    By 3:30 p.m. today, the westbound direction of E. Rodriguez from D. Tuazon to Mabuhay Rotonda will be closed to vehicular traffic and will only be opened after all the floats have passed.

    Yesterday evening, the MMDA advised motorists to stay away from E. Rodriguez Avenue from Banawe to Mabuhay Rotonda, which is being utilized as the staging area for the floats. It shall occupy one lane in the westbound direction, while the eastbound direction is open to traffic.

    Further, the agency is urging the public to take alternative routes as heavy traffic flow may be experienced along the whole parade route.

    Vehicles going to Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) or Quezon Memorial Circle from España Boulevard should turn right at Blumentritt Road, left at Sto. Tomas Street or Matimyas Street, right at Nicanor Ramirez., left at Cordillera Street, right at E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, left at Tomas Morato, right at Timog Avenue towards East Avenue to destination. From the same starting point, motorists may also turn right at Nicanor Ramirez, straight towards Cordillera Street, right at E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, left at Tomas Morato, right at Timog Avenue all the way to East Avenue to destination.

    Motorists heading to Manila from Quezon Avenue should turn right at Biak na Bato, left at Dapitan Street, left at Lacson Avenue and right at España Boulevard to their destination. They may also turn right at D. Tuazon Street, left at Sen. Mariano Cuenco to Piy Margal Street, left at Blumentritt Road, then right at España Boulevard toward their destination.

    Further, vehicles going to Del Monte Avenue and Araneta Avenue from España Boulevard should take Mabuhay Rotonda, right at Blumentritt Road, right at Piy Margal Street, then left to Mayon Street toward their destination.

    Moreover, those coming from Mayon Street to E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, EDSA or QMC should turn right at Piy Margal Street, left at Blumentritt Road, left at Sto. Tomas Street or Matimyas Street, right at Nicanor Ramirez Street, and straight towards Cordillera Street, right at E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, left at Tomas Morato, right at Timog Avenue towards East Avenue to destination.

    The MMDA also noted that the left turn movement at the intersection of Quezon Avenue-Araneta Avenue westbound and at the intersection of EDSA-Quezon Avenue will be restricted. With that, motorists are advised to use the following routes:

    Motorists who have to take EDSA northbound lane from Mabuhay Rotonda may take Quezon Avenue Service Road, right at EDSA, take the U-turn slot beneath the EDSA-Quezon Avenue flyover to their destination.

    Vehicles going towards EDSA southbound lane from QMC may turn right at EDSA from Quezon Avenue Service Road, then make a U-turn beneath EDSA-Quezon Avenue flyover in front of Census Building, then straight toward destination.

     Furthermore, those from North Avenue towards QMC may take the U-turn slot in front of McDonalds after the intersection of EDSA/Quezon Avenue then make a right turn at Quezon Avenue towards the destination.

    Motorists going to Mabuhay Rotonda from Makati may take the U-turn slot beneath EDSA-Quezon Avenue flyover in front of Census Building, then right at Quezon Avenue towards destination while those from Mabuhay Rotonda going to EDSA North Avenue can turn left at Quezon Avenue-West Avenue intersection and use the West Avenue.

    Left-turning vehicles from Makati that are headed to Quezon Avenue westbound may use EDSA-Timog Service Road, make a U-turn towards EDSA southbound then turn right at Timog Avenue towards destination.

    Lastly, vehicles from QMC to EDSA may use the East Avenue Exit.
