Apple Car Play IOS 12 Now Supports Waze and Google Maps
Apple's news operating system, iOS 12, is packed with big updates and great apps. One update worth mentioning is the ability to use a third-party navigation app like Waze and Google Maps in Apple Car Play.
This means that you can now use Google Maps to help you get directions and check on the most current traffic situation from Waze. And while these apps are already available in your current iPhone, the difference here is that you can use both apps hands-free via your dashboard's CarPlay.
Navigation has always been a weak point of Apple Car Play ever since it debuted its in-house mapping to replace Google Maps integration six years ago. Many customers reported incorrect positioning data and other inaccurate routing directions, enough for Apple's CEO Tim Cook to create an open apology to those who bought it. He even reportedly ousted former iOS Chief Scott Forstall and Apple Maps head Richard Williamson because of it.
Apple hasn't released many details on the iOS 12, and there’s no exact date given for its release. Our guess is that it will be at the fourth quarter of 2018--around September or October. What we do know, however, is that the first developer beta is already available to developers who are Apple members. What's more, the public can download a free, beta version of the iOS 12 that will be launched in late June. Let's wait and see.
