BMW to debut all-electric i5 M60 at Legends of the Autobahn

BMW will debut the all-electric i5 M60 at the Legends of the Autobahn.

The said all-German marque Concours d'Elegance will be staged next week (August 17) at the Pacific Grove Golf Links in California. The event will be hosted by the BMW Car Club of America, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, and the Audi Club of North America.

The BMW i5 M60 will boast a 590-horsepower electric drivetrain coupled with hallmark M performance driving characteristics and specific design features.

Per the German carmaker, the abovementioned setup allows the BMW i5 M60 to zoom from zero to approximately 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 3.7 seconds. Speed, per BMW, peaks at 230kph when equipped with high-performance tires.

Complementing the powerful electric setup is the optional Driving Assistance Professional, which now includes the Highway Assistant for attentive hands-free driving at speeds up to 136kph where conditions and speed limits allow.

BMW added that the automated driving functions of the Driving Assistance Professional Package also include the new version of the Active Lane Change where the vehicle is now able to suggest a lane change and the driver can confirm the lane change simply by looking in the corresponding outside rearview mirror.

The introduction of the new BMW 5 Series also sees the premiere of in-car gaming. In cooperation with the gaming platform AirConsole, the driver and the car’s passengers can play casual games while the vehicle is stationary.

The BMW i5 M60 xDrive will go on sale in the United States fourth quarter of 2023 with a base price of US$81,400 (around P4.582 million).
