From the rear, the updated X1 comes with a slim tailgate window, striking LED lights, and flared wheel arches.

Adaptive LED headlights with Matrix high beam, pulsating turn indicators, and variable light distribution are available as optional add-ons, said BMW.

The cabin of the new also X1 boasts an elevated premium ambience. It now has a slender instrument panel, a floating armrest, a smartphone tray (with indirect illumination at the front of the center console) and, of course, the BMW Curved Display.

The BMW Curved Display consists of a 10.25-inch information display and a 10.7-inch control display. It runs on the BMW Operating System 8.

Its seats are considerably raised, per the Munich-based automaker, and are available in both Sensatec perforated and Vernasca leather finish. Also to be found on the options list are sports seats, electric seat adjustment with memory function, and lumbar support, including a massage function.

Available driver-assist features on the updated X1 include cruise control with brake function and a front collision warning system. Other standard driving nannies are the Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant.

The new BMW X1 will be launched with a choice of conventional combustion engines featuring two gasoline and two diesel units from the BMW Group’s new modular generation of Efficient Dynamics engines. The combustion engines are accompanied by the brand’s second-generation 48V mild-hybrid technology with an electric motor integrated into the seven-speed Steptronic transmission.

Alternatively, the BMW X1 can be had in an all-electric variant. The BMW iX1 is fitted with two highly integrated drive units at the front and rear axle and delivers 313 horses with 494Nm of torque.
