BYD remains PH’s 3rd best-selling auto brand in Apr. 2026

MANILA: BYD maintained its position as the Philippines’ third best-selling automotive brand during the first four months of 2026.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Automotive ASEAN Leader Partner Patrick Oliver Ziechmann revealed the numbers during his presentation at the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) Summit, stating that the Chinese automaker retailed 13,723 units as of April 2026.

The figure reflected a 203-percent sales increase from the 4,528 examples delivered to customers during the same period in 2025.

Based on the same presentation, BYD’s market share gained 6.5 percentage points, reaching 9.4 percent from 2.9 percent in the first four months of last year.

With this, BYD ranked behind Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), which sold 24,371 vehicles, and ahead of Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH), which delivered 6,289 units to customers.

Further, BYD’s January-April 2026 sales made it the sole automotive marque that posted positive growth numbers growth during the period, amid Japanese manufacturers continuing to dominate the market’s top positions.

To recall, BYD Cars Philippines reported that it sold 26,122 vehicles nationwide in the full 12 months of 2025.
