Cavite-Laguna Expressway to be Completed Within Planned 2020 Deadline

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar said that the agency is determined to complete the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAx) on schedule. Villar conducted an on-site inspection of the CALAx project and shared that the construction and acquisition of road right-of-way are being fast tracked to meet the planned 2020 deadline.

The agency's big boss added that 96 percent of Letter Offers have already been served to the land owners. "To date, 96 percent of Letter Offers have been served to the land owners, 81 percent of the signed Deeds of Absolute Sale (DOAS) and Expropriation Cases have been submitted to the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), and 21 percent of the Permits to Enter/Writ of Possessions have been issued," Villar said.

CALAx is a 45.29-kilometer, four-lane toll road that starts from CAVITEX in Kawit, Cavite and ends at the SLEX-Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan, Laguna. The DPWH says that CALAx will reduce travel time to and from Mamplasan to Kawit from 2.5 hours to 1 hour. Villar previously said that the first phase of CALAx will be completed by December 2018.
