Continuously providing the bulk for the strong performance is the commercial vehicle segment, which sold 95,857 units for the aforementioned duration in 2023. The number, which is nearly three-fourths of the total year-to-date (YTD) sales, reflected a 27.3-percent rise over the 75,321 vehicles sold to clients in January-April 2022.

On the other hand, the retail performance of the passenger car division (which holds the remaining 25.07 percent of the overall volume) went up to 32,070 units. It is 30.5-percent more compared to the 24,582 vehicles handed over to clients in the same period in 2022.

For April alone, CAMPI-TMA sales reached 30,643 units, which is barely 17-percent less than the 36,880 vehicles sold in March 2023 but 21.8-percent higher in comparison to April last year’s 25,149 performance.

“The improving economic indicators, which in fact remain favorable until the end of the year, according to a government report is an essential metric for the continued growth of the auto industry. At the same time, this is perfectly timed with the market availability of a wider range of motor vehicle models being offered by our members, responding to the growing needs of customers,” CAMPI President Atty Rommel Gutierrez was quoted as saying.

“As the economic outlook remains favorable, the auto industry is optimistic to attain full recovery from the pandemic-induced challenges – well-positioned to grow to significant levels, even higher than the pre-pandemic figures. It is worth noting that the industry has already recorded this growth trajectory in the past four months compared with the 2019 levels,” he added.

On close fourth is Ford Philippines, cornering 8,069 units in the total April 2023 YTD sales while Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated is at fifth place with 5,901 units turned over to customers.
