Carmudi Magazine Experiences the Audi Driving Weekend
For two days last January, on the 21st and 22nd to be exact, PGA Cars, the official distributor of Audi vehicles – among other luxury car brands, for that matter – staged the “Audi Driving Weekend” at the parking lot at the corner of 30th Street and 9th Avenue in Bonifacio Global City.
Present at the venue was nearly the entire line of Audi vehicles, from the compact A1 to the hulking Q7 SUV. Of course, the TT coupe was there as well as an S3 and the R8 V10 Plus supercar.
Visitors to the Audi Pavilion were given the opportunity to either test-drive most of the vehicles or to be driven by a certified instructor who would ably show off the performance capabilities of the vehicles.
Those who chose to drive the car were accompanied by a representative of PGA Cars whowould then explain the unique features of the vehicles as they drove through a predetermined course. Oddly enough, the course for the Q7 only went around just the three blocks around the area while the course for the TT went much further; all the way past the International School and the Manila Japanese School before turning onto 9th Avenue and a quick drive past the restaurants and clubs on The Palace and the Uptown Mall. To catch the attention of the visitors in the area? Probably. To entice them to follow the car back to the venue and entice them to take a drive for themselves and maybe even buy a car? Most definitely.
For those who were content with being driven, the instructors gamely showed them what their chosen vehicle could do. The Q7, for example, went through an articulation test to show off how its suspension handled uneven terrain through all four tires, while the TT went through a handling course to highlight how nimble yet confident it felt through fast turns and quick lane changes.
Free food and drinks were available to all visitors at the air-conditioned tent. It was also here where prospective buyers became customers, swayed by how good the cars and their experience with it were. On the first day alone, we heard at least five sales were closed, so it was a good weekend for Audi and PGA Cars. "Vorsprung durch Technik," indeed.
